The Center for Intensive English Studies at Florida State University needed a centralized business management system to encompass all the needs of the center, which to a large degree were different from those of the university as a whole. The student application and registration, course and session creation, faculty assignments, recording of grades and attendance, billing, and reporting were all managed within myCIES. The system did, however, employ FSU’s user authentication and accounting systems.

CHALLENGE

The center’s disparate methods and systems needed to be brought together into one over-arching system to facilitate all business operations.

SOLUTION

CIMES developed the new system in two phases. The first was a discovery and analysis phase in which staff studied CIES’ business processes. The second phase included engineering the actual system. CIMES continues to provide maintenance and support through a renewable contract.
