School District Certification Training

The Bureau of Educator Certification at the Florida Department of Education is responsible for evaluating, granting, and maintaining licensure for Florida educators. The bureau offers its certification partners in Florida’s school districts a number of resources to assist with their job, including training on introductory topics related to certification and licensure.

CHALLENGE

The new training needed to present scenario-based application tasks to assess and reinforce learning. The training content needed to be reorganized for logical flow, and dense procedural and programmatic information needed to be presented in an accessible manner.

SOLUTION

CIMES developed web-based training that strengthened the bureau’s existing training by adding scenarios and application tasks arising from the context of the users’ everyday tasks. The training includes an introduction to certification, information on certificate types and subjects, and information on the steps and pathways to certification. Application tasks allow learners to assess their progress at the end of each module. This enables district partners to quickly apply and reinforce their newly acquired knowledge.
