CIMES worked with the nonprofit Shared Hope International to produce three 90-minute web-based trainings on sex trafficking. An entry-level course introduces the crime of domestic minor sex trafficking, how traffickers exploit victims, and the kinds of services victims need to recover. The second course provides specialized guidance for healthcare and social service providers on meeting the needs of these survivors. The third course is for law enforcement and criminal justice personnel and introduces the complex topic of victim-offender intersectionality. This advanced training helps these professionals understand how trauma and related factors may lead some victims to become offenders themselves, often through force or coercion. Learners are able to review and respond to several case studies where VOI is a factor.
