More Announcements Masduki Presents at Immersive Learning Conference and Symposium

CIMES Instructional Design Coordinator, Iskandaria Masduki, provided a Poster Presentation at the Immersive Learning Conference and Symposium, January 18-20, 2012, in New Orleans. Her poster, "How to Convert Linear to Branching Simulation: FDOT Case Study," depicts a conceptual framework on how a linear simulation can be converted to a branching simulation.

Using the case of the web-based training project CIMES has recently completed for the Florida Department of Transportation, Masduki's poster highlights the challenges involved in developing the training and demonstrates how linear simulations can become branching simulations involving 3D virtual characters, real-world scenarios, roadway simulations, and more.

The presentation illustrates the benefits of moving beyond linear to branching simulations to actively engage trainees in their own realistic learning of complex situations and to support decision-making, planning, and problem solving.
