Author: Rebecca Augustyniak, Dawn Aguero, Amy Finley, Blair Monroe, Brian Arsenault
Date: 2005
Type: Article
Description: For years information professionals have created Web-based information systems to collect, organize, and distribute information. The business world is currently in the midst of a paradigm shift where the data formerly being collected and managed within the confines of an MIS department, now resides within Web-based management systems where end-users and non-technical managers can access, create, modify, and implement data collection efforts directly. Information professionals are playing a key role in this shift by employing the intellectual and technical skills used in creating information systems to create Web-based business management systems. This paper describes the IP knowledge and skills that were used in developing a Web-based portal management system for the California Department of Health, Bureau of Local and Statewide Programs.
